My name is Julie Ostrowski, BSHS, RT(R)(CT) Chairmen of the Board and I am currently an instructor for the Health Science & Homeland Security Department at Southwestern Illinois College. I teach within the Radiology Program, as well as pre requisites classes for all allied healthcare professions. In addition, I lead sessions with incoming Adjunct Instructors for the college, helping adjuncts transition and offering tips for the classroom. I have been an active member of the ISSRT for 7 years; along with holding positions on the board, I volunteered to be the 2015, 2016, 2017 and now the 2018 Conference Chair for the Annual Conference. I am married to a retired Airman and have been married for twenty-six years. We have two children, our oldest Sarah is serving as a Field Artillery Officer in the US Army and my son is enjoying his junior year of high school. …I enjoy traveling the nation to speak at conferences on fun, crazy radiology topics. In my spare time I enjoy painting, learning the piano, spending time with family and drinking lots and lots of coffee. I look forward to a wonderful year serving the ISSRT board as their chairman and know we will bring great things to the society moving forward.

My name is Sandi Watts, MSHA, RT (R), ARRT.  Vice President, I am the Program Director of the Radiography Program at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL.  I have been educating radiography students for almost 26 years.  I first taught in the radiography program at Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg, IL. for 16 years, worked with Lincoln Land Community College and Richland Community College radiography students at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL as their Education Coordinator for 6 years and I’m in my 4th year as PD and Assistant Professor at SIUC.  My true passion has always been teaching!

I graduated from Blessing Hospital School of Radiologic Technology in Quincy, IL.  I have a Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Science from Florida Hospital College of Health Sciences (now Adventist University of Health Sciences) in Orlando, FL.  My Master’s degree is in Health Administration from the University of St. Francis in Joliet, IL. 

I really enjoy being a part of this organization and encourage everyone to get involved!  It’s wonderful meeting new people!

My name is Mary Massengill, RT (R) (QM), Treasurer and I am a full time Radiology Clinical Instructor at Edward Hospital in Naperville, IL.  I oversee radiography, MRI and CT students as well as coordinate education for the radiology department.  I received my AAS and certification from College of DuPage in Radiologic Technology and Quality Management.   My BA degree in Health Care Leadership is from Concordia University in Chicago, IL and I am currently working toward my MBA from Concordia as well.  I have been a member of the ASRT and ISSRT for 10 years. My husband and I have 4 sons, 2 grandsons, 3 Great Danes one grand dog, one grand cat and one soon to be grand dog at the end of April.   I have been involved with 2 rescue organizations Forever Friends Great Dane Rescue, Inc and Just Giants Rescue.  I have served on various committees with each rescue.  I enjoy participating in events for both rescues, as well as transporting giant breeds to foster homes and forever homes.    I enjoy training my Great Danes, knitting, crocheting, reading and going to the beach whenever I get the chance

My name is Mary Hood and I am the ISSRT Jr. Delegate . I graduated from Southern Illinois University with a degree in Radiologic Technology in 1986, and have been  a registered CT technologist since 2003, although I actually started doing CT in 2001. I also received my degree from SIU in Heath Care Management, and have a Masters degree in Adult and Continuing Education from National Louis University.  I have worked full time as an instructor at Harper College since January of 2005 and am currently an Associate Professor teaching in the Radiologic Technology and Computed Tomography programs. I have worked in a variety of health care settings including pediatrics, family practice, dental and maxillofacial imaging, and of course in hospitals, both as a permanent and agency technologist.  My true love in imaging is Computed Tomography and I spent 14 years doing that until the spring of 2014 when I began to teach exclusively and no longer have a registry CT position.  I love representing the ISSRT as the Northern Region adviser, and hope to spread the word about the many good things the Society does for not only technologists as individuals, but the profession as a whole in Illinois, and nationally. 

My name is Sue Dumford, BS,RT(R)(M), Secretary, I am employed as a radiographer and  mammographer at Edward Hospital in Naperville, IL and as a mammographer at Presence Mercy Hospital in Aurora, IL. I also hold the position of Adjunct Faculty in the Diagnostic Medical Imaging Department at the College of DuPage. In 2010, I graduated from the College of DuPage Radiography and Mammography Programs, and in 1986 I received my Bachelor’s of Science in Industrial Engineering from Purdue University. I have two grown children and enjoy reading, antiquing and traveling to see friends and family. I have been a member of ISSRT since 2009 and I am currently serving as Secretary for the organization. ISSRT plays a vital role in the advocacy and promotion of our profession and I hope to continue to serve the organization in carrying out its mission.

 My name is Sharon Cheek BS R T   (R) (M) Central Region Advisor I am a Professor and  Clinical Coordinator for the Associate Degree Radiography Program at Lincoln Land  Community College in  Springfield IL.  I have enjoyed this position for the past nineteen years.  Before coming  to Lincoln Land, I  was a staff Radiologic Technologist for eighteen years  at Abraham Lincoln Memorial  Hospital in Lincoln IL  and was experienced in Diagnostic, CT and Mammography.  I received my Radiologic  Technology  education at the Bloomington-Normal School of Radiography in Normal, IL.

I completed my BS at the University of St. Francis, Joliet, IL.  In addition to the ISSRT, I am also a member of ASRT and AEIRS (Association of Educators in the Imaging and Radiologic Sciences.  I believe it’s important to be involved as a Radiologic Technologist at both the state and national level.

e is Cathie Kukec, R.T.(R)(M)(QM), CN-BI, FASRT. I am currently the ISSRT Senior Delegate to the ASRT.  I graduated from DePaul University with a degree in music education (I still play flute and saxophone and am the assistant director of a community band) and from College of DuPage with an AAS in a Radiologic Technology.

I have worked in medical imaging for 29 years, in radiography, interventional, mammography, quality management, as a breast patient navigator and as a clinical instructor.  I am currently working at Chicago Ridge Medical Imaging doing radiography.

I have been involved with the ISSRT since I was a student and have served in almost every position and committee on the board.  I have also been a member of the ASRT for 20 years, and have served on numerous committees and as Vice Speaker and Speaker of the House of Delegates.  I was honored to have been elevated as a Fellow of the ASRT and am currently serving on the Committee on RT Advocacy.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, reading, going to flea markets and making jewelry and repurposing lots of different items!  It is my pleasure to serve the members of the ISSRT and be their voice with the ASRT.
